Catalina is the Place to Be

We spent 4 days on Catalina Island last week. For years I have felt guilty if I took time off and as a consequence I went for 13 years at one time without taking a week off.

Later, the more I read the more I saw a correlation between taking time off and quality of life as well as earning capacity.

Dan Sullivan, founder of Strategic Coach, has cited statistics that show the more quality, rejuvenating time that you take off, the better your production time when you get back to work.

He gives his hires a minimum of 6 weeks vacation per year after their probation period has ended.

From year one.

Pretty gutsy, huh. But the rewards have been far-reaching. The employees are much happier when they're working and they have a tendency to work at a much higher rate of efficiency and creativity.

So, I'm taking more time off now, not feeling guilty, loving life more and bringing more value to my friends and clients.

Catalina is a wonderful place, developed in the early 1900's by Charles Wrigley of chewing gum fame. 98% of the island is still in it's natural habitat with just 2% having been developed. With breath taking views and only 3,000 year round inhabitants, it is worth the stay and very relaxing.

I think I'll do it again.
